                Executive Headteacher’s Welcome

I have been a Headteacher since 1997 and have been at Oakfield CE Primary since September 2006 and involved with the Arreton and Oakfield Federation since developments began in 2008. I began my role as Executive Head for the Federation in September 2016.

I have been a teacher since 1988 and I absolutely love my job!

Both schools are fantastic places to work mainly because of the wonderful children and staff!

As a Federation we are proud of all of our children and we have a totally inclusive approach valuing all children equally whatever their needs may be. We value each individual child and understand that when children are placed in our care they are young people that need support to develop as well rounded, confident individuals as well as highly effective learners. We therefore try to plan to meet their social and emotional needs as far as possible as well as their academic needs.

Arreton St George’s Primary is set in a beautiful rural location and is attended by pupils from many parts of the Isle of Wight. It has rapidly grown in size in recent years and we are very much looking forward to expanding our indoor space by building a new separate classroom which should be completed by the Summer Term 2017. We have very good relationships with St George’s Church and Reverend Janice helps us celebrate together once a month in the church which we can all walk to from school. We are also lucky to have amazing ‘neighbours’ at both the White Lion pub and Arreton Barns who work closely and co-operatively with the school.

We also visit other beautiful places!

Our residential trips include the chance to spend a week in London for Year 3 and 4 pupils and a week in Italy for our Year 5 and 6 pupils. We encourage children to widen their horizons and open up their own expectations and firmly believe that it is our job to help them see that everything is possible and their future is exciting!

We are always delighted to welcome visitors, if you would like to come and see us, please just call the main office for an appointment to look around.

Head of School’s Welcome

I have been in education since I qualified in 1988, working in the suburbs of Manchester, Derby City and Nottingham City before moving to the island in 2005. Over the last 10 years, I have held significant leadership roles including Key Stage 2 lead, Deputy Head Teacher and a period of time as Interim Head Teacher at Broadlea Primary School. I recently returned to Arreton St George's CE Primary School (September 2016), having been Senior Leader here from 2010 to 2013. I am really pleased to be back at Arreton as Interim Head of School, working closely with Mrs Bosworth and the team here at Arreton.

Arreton is a warm, friendly and caring school with amazing staff, children and parents and carers who are very supportive. As a team together, including our federation partners at Oakfield CE Primary, we can really move forward to ensure we get the best possible outcomes for the children.
